Industrial scaffolding
Industrial Scaffolding

The short version
What industrial access actually involves
Heavier-duty access for warehouses, plant and industrial units, designed around load, height and the plant that still has to move underneath it.
Industrial access is a loading problem before it is an access problem. Heavier materials, longer spans, and forklifts and deliveries still moving beneath the structure all change what the scaffold has to carry. Alpine designs industrial scaffolds to the duty the work actually demands, and builds them so the site underneath keeps operating.

Why it is done this way
What you get from Alpine
-
Built for the load
Duty class is set from the work being done — materials stacked on the lift, not just people standing on it — so the platform is never the limiting factor.
-
The site keeps working
Vehicle routes, racking runs and plant access are designed around, with protection where traffic passes close to standards.
-
Engineered where it matters
Anything outside standard TG20 compliance is designed and calculated properly, with drawings issued for your records.
-
Long hire, properly maintained
Structures left up for months are re-inspected on schedule and repaired promptly, rather than quietly degrading on site.
In the price
What the quote covers
- Design to the loading class the work requires, not the cheapest frame that fits
- Structural drawings and calculations where the design falls outside TG20 compliance
- Protection and exclusion around live plant, racking and vehicle routes
- Long-term hire arrangements with scheduled re-inspection
- Access towers, loading bays and material hoisting positions as required
- Method statements and risk assessments issued before mobilisation
Anything outside this is priced and agreed before it happens — never added afterwards.
Common questions
Before you book
The questions that come up on nearly every industrial job in Stevenage, Cambridge and across Hertfordshire. All FAQs
-
What makes industrial scaffolding different from commercial?
Loading, mostly. Industrial access carries heavier materials over longer spans, often with plant, forklifts and deliveries still moving beneath it. The duty class is set from the work actually being done rather than the cheapest frame that fits the elevation.
-
Can you design scaffolding outside TG20 compliance?
Yes. Anything that falls outside a TG20 compliant design is engineered and calculated properly, with drawings issued for your records. That covers heavy-duty loading, long spans, unusual geometry and structures carrying plant or materials.
-
Can the site keep operating while the scaffold is up?
That is designed in. Vehicle routes, racking runs and plant access are worked around, with protection where traffic passes close to standards and exclusion zones agreed before mobilisation.
-
Do you offer long-term scaffolding hire?
Yes. Structures left up for months are re-inspected on schedule and repaired promptly rather than left to weather. Long-term hire terms are agreed in the original written price.
-
Do you provide method statements and risk assessments?
Yes, issued before mobilisation and written for the specific structure rather than pulled off a shelf.
-
Do I need a permit or licence?
If the scaffold stands on or over public land — a pavement, a verge or a road — the local authority requires a licence. We apply for it, deal with the council and build to whatever conditions they attach, such as lighting, hoarding or a protected pedestrian route. If the scaffold sits entirely on private property, no licence is normally needed. We will tell you which applies at the survey.
-
How long does it take to put up?
Most domestic scaffolds go up in a day, and many in a few hours. Larger commercial structures, temporary roofs and anything requiring a bespoke design take longer, and phased jobs are erected in sections to suit the programme. You get a date at the point of quoting, and the crew arrives on it.
